Promote your business to new downtown residents. BID New Resident Packets contain items and information from BID businesses, and are distributed to new downtown home and condo owners through participating Realtors. A BID business can sponsor the bags, and receive business logo and website on the outside of the bags. There is only one sponsorship opportunity! See link above for more info & how to participate.

Downtown Madison Family Trick or Treat

What: Trick or treating for families with children 12 & under at participating businesses in the District from 2 to 6 pm on Friday, Oct. 29. Free. Co-sponsored by the Greater State Street Business Association (GSSBA).
Tie-in events on Oct. 29:
Madison Parks Hayrides, 2-6pm, Capitol Square
Madison Children's Museum
Beakers & Broomsticks, 6-8:30 pm
Why: To create a family-friendly downtown business Halloween event . Madison schools are not in session on Friday, Oct. 29, so parents and kids will be looking for something to do. (Halloween "Freakfest" on State St. is the evening of Sat., Oct. 30).
What's New this Year:
Thanks to businesses who participated in last year's successful first event! Based on your input, we shortened the event time window (to 2-6pm), and are working on a candy special order system (details coming in late September).
How to Participate:
SIGN UP HERE to participate by Friday, October 8.
Be open & distribute treats of your choice to trick or treating children & families from 2:00 - 6:00 pm on Friday, October 29 (ok if you close a little earlier).
Display BID-provided "Stop In Here" event poster.
Option: offer any additional activities, special offers, discounts you wish.
NOTE:
Event is billed as for families with children 12 & under.
Participating businesses, treats, activities should be appropriate for that age group.
Trick or Treating will work best when many businesses in a row or on the same block are participating. Encourage your business neighbors to participate!
Last year, businesses on State St. and Capitol Square near the Children's Museum reported between 300-500+ trick or treaters. Businesses on side streets reported between 20-100 trick or treaters.
Participation open to BID Member businesses and organizations only.
EVENT PROMOTION:
The list of participating businesses will be on the BID website and available for pickup at the Madison Children's Museum and new Visitor Center. BID will create promotional flyers, posters, and do some advertising with the support of GSSBA. Trick or treating will also be cross-promoted by the Madison Children's Museum to their mailing list.

WIAA TOURNAMENT GUIDES - Deadline Oct. 25
The WIAA (Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletics Association) will hold eight annual high school athletic tournaments in Madison, which bring over 460,000 athletes, parents and fans to the Kohl Center, UW Field House, Camp Randall and other venues. The "Tournament City Membership" gives BID member businesses the opportunity to advertise in the Tournament City Guides (one price for all eight Tournament Guides) plus participate in the City Card incentive.

The BID 2010 Marketing Plan includes 20 cooperative advertising opportunities (link above) for BID-members businesses in print and online advertising, with average savings of $400 per ad, and savings of as much as $800 on some opportunities. Updated to include new opportunities from BRAVA Magazine and for UW First Year Parents Weekend.

Create your own special offer and/or discounts for Downtown Works Weeks participants during the week (June 22-26, 2009).

Participants will identify themselves, and may be wearing a paper clip to signify they are participating.
While the most likely participants are downtown workers, participation is open to any Madison area employee.
This sign-up form is for BID member businesses and organizations only.
Members of Madison's Central Business Improvement District (BID), Downtown Madison, Inc. (DMI), the Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce are all eligible to participate in the "Downtown Works Week" discount/special offer, and will be listed on the website.
If you are not a BID Member, contact your own organization's representative to sign up. You only need to sign up with one organization to participate.
