Enjoy Halloween magic shows, musical performances, spooky stories and jokes, hayrides, craft projects, festive Halloween family portraits, trick or treating at participating locations

Family fun activities will include:
Madison Parks Hay Rides.
Hayrides around the Capitol Square, 2:00 - 5:00 pm, pulled by tractor, leaving approx. every 20 minutes. Pickup point near Capitol Kids, 8 S. Carroll St. ($2.00/person, no reservations required.) Purchase hot cider from MadCAP while you are waiting!
Stop by Capitol Kids at 8 S. Carroll St. and join in the fun. Create your own bat finger puppet from a variety of materials. Meet some characters and visit our mascot bear Webster in his Halloween costume. 2:00 - 5:00 pm.
Halloween Magic & Ventriloquist Shows

Kids of all ages will enjoy spooky but not too scary magic, comedy ventriloquism and audience participation! Enjoy shows in Overture's Rotunda Stage at 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00 pm. (Free)

Halloween Photos!: Overture Center staff will take pictures of kids in costume in front of a Halloween scene and post them online for you to download. Overture Rotunda Lobby, 2:00 - 5:00 pm. (Free)

Day of the Dead at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art
Day of the Dead at Madison Museum of Contemporary Art
227 State St. Delve into Latin American culture at MMoCA, 2:00-5:00 pm. Explore an exhibition of Mexican artwork; pick up a paper sugar-skull mask inspired by Mexico's Day of the Dead to decorate at home. Enjoy traditional music from CUICANI with concerts at 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 4:00 pm. Temporary tattoos, treats and other fun surprises are in store. Planning a longer visit? Create a self portrait using props in the Henry Street Gallery. (Admission to MMoCA is free.)
Decorate your own trick or treat bag at DreamBank - American Family Insurance, 1 N. Pinckney St. (2:00 - 5:00 pm, Free). Get ready for trick-or-treating by designing your very own candy bag. Frightening, creepy, crawly, spooky or silly - we'll provide the supplies - you bring your silly side and get ready to craft!
Special appearance by University of Wisconsin mascot Bucky Badger who will greet trick or treaters at the Downtown Visitor Center (452 State St.) between 3:00-4:00 pm

Pre-event program outside the Wisconsin Veterans Museum, 30 W. Mifflin St., from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. A presenter and bald eagle from the National Eagle Center, plus display on Old Abe, the eagle mascot of the 8th Wisconsin in the Civil War.

Library staff are ready to help you have fun at the Family Halloween!
201 W. Mifflin St. Drop in between 2-5 pm to make spooky crafts, read scary stories and more in the new library's Children's Room! Don't miss the 4:00 performance of Dig It! by MadCAP in front of a giant cardboard pyramid constructed by children. Trick or treat stations at children's room, ground and first floors from 2-5 pm. (Free)
Mummy Making at Madison Children's Museum, 100 N. Hamilton St., 2:00 - 5:00 pm (Free). Visit the MCM trick or treat station at the N. Hamilton corner of Capitol Square to help construct a giant mummy and enjoy a 3 p.m. performance of "Dig It", an archaeological musical by MadCAP.
Dig It! with MadCAP. Travel back in time and join inquisitive archaeologists Taki and Tut, and their friend Lucy, as they explore the wonders of ancient civilization. From the farm laborers of early Mesopotamia and Egyptian mummies who "rap," to a chorus of ancient Greeks and Romulus and Remus who dream of building a great city, you will join MadCAP students on a journey through time...with just a little dash of spookiness along the way! Songs include Greece Is The Word, Here's To The Future, In My Tomb, The Land Between Two Rivers, So Long Ago and Toga Party Tonight (appx. 30 minute performance).
MadCAP will perform a few songs outside Capitol Kids at 2:00 pm, with full performances performance outside Madison Children's Museum at 3:00 pm, and the Central Library at 4:00 pm.

Halloween Fun at the Wisconsin Historical Museum

Enjoy a Make Your Own Ghost craft activity and encounter colorful, eccentric characters from Wisconsin's past wandering past the exhibits. 10:00 am-5:00 pm.
Ghostly Songs and Stories from Wisconsin (and places close by). Singer, author and storyteller Stuart Stotts shares songs and stories for family fun and slight fright. Performances at 1:00 and 3:00 pm. (Admission by donation).
Latin Illusion Youth Dance Performance. This East High School student group works hard academically-and dances Hispanic music with a hip hop twist! Catch them at Peace Park at 2:00 pm; outside Capitol Kids at the Hayrides Pickup at 2:30 pm, at DreamBank at 3:00 pm, and at the Central Library in front of the giant cardboard pyramid at 3:30 pm.
